Electric
Fires
Many
families enjoy the warmth that electric
fires give in whichever
room they are installed. They simply just plug into a power
socket of the room and turn it on, but can become a significant
part of the room if installed as a electric fireplace instead
of just a stand alone electric fire.
Electric fires come in many different
designs, many with attractive looking moulds in their
shape to give them impression of warm ambers or wooden
logs. You can also find electric fires with the look
of stone, marble and brick so any room can be fitted
with a fire which matches the décor
of the room. Even though many electric fires are designed
to give a great appearance for the room, many can still
produce a great amount of heat such as a up to 10,000 BTU’s.
As they run on electricity, you do not need to worry about
poisonous fumes or ventilation.
As we mentioned above, most electric
fires can be plugged
in, switched on and ready to heat the room. Any electric
fire has to meet UL safety standards so they do not overheat
and have shut off features if this does occur. Compared
to some heating appliances, electric fires can be very
inexpensive to run with a hourly rate being .02 pence per
hour if only the flames are used or 0.14pence per hour
if all the heating elements of your electric fire are in
operation.
Another area of safety is that the electric fire itself
is usually cool to the touch so unlikely to cause burning
especially if children have strayed near the fire. Other
fireplaces such as log fires or gas fires can be extremely
hot so electric
fires are a good alternative if this is
a major concern. |
